• In product design, using materials that can be recycled: for example, the cable housing is made from TPR (Thermo Plastic Rubber) instead of PVC (poly vinyl chloride): TPR is highly flexible but durable and resistant to UV rays and heat, preventing degradation of its physical attributes, unlike PVC which in its production, use and disposal causes pollution by releasing toxic, chlorine-based chemicals;
• In product manufacturing, the cable connectors are solder-free: instead the connectors are either moulded or metal crimp, which avoids dispersal of toxic fumes during soldering and possible lead pollution from the solder itself;
• In product packaging, using PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic instead of PVC: when recycled in an incineration plant, PET mainly produces water and carbon dioxide, and can also be recycled into fibres that are used for polyester fabrics; PVC cannot be recycled but has to be buried in landfill where the material degrades over time and pollutes the land around.
